EVERYONE has a BLANK by Kris Lorenzen

Everyone has a Blank.

Like the atom or gravity or any revolutionary science, this was hypothesized long before it was proven.

Nicco Paillasses (1575-1611) first proposed the Blank. Some of his details were off, but most of the terminology didn’t have words yet. He imagined it in the heart, where he believed thought and inspiration came from and flowed through to the rest of the body.

“A void in the heart; a space that’s mere existence proves nothing, but whose nonbearing makes humanity yearn to fill-it-up, usually in a belief in a higher-power.”

The church burned him for it. They apologized recently, before going bankrupt. Too little, too late was the general consensus.

They’d never found the soul. There was no gland or tissue or organ for it. They’d decoded the genome, fine-toothed combed the whole of the human body. Nothing. No evidence whatsoever.

But they did find the Blank.

Dr. Johan Rhodes (2003- ) found it in the brain. A blank, spherical region that avoided all detection. They bombarded it with x-rays and gamma radiation; they did CAT scans and thermal mappings. It was about the size of a grain of sand and so far, every human tested had it.

Why didn’t they see it before?

There weren’t many preserved brains, but there were enough. Just fifty years ago, it was the size of a pinprick. One hundred years ago, an electron.
The Blank was growing.

They have cloned organs that operate at peak efficiency. They have synthetic muscles that outlast pistons. Smart drugs grown in labs for less than pennies. External wombs and cures for everything.

But they still have the Blank and they still have death. The desperate seek to connect the two, hoping that by filling the former, they will eradicate the latter.

The Blank is the size of a quarter now.

The Roslin Institute recently introduced the first Entheogen (Greek; to generate God from within) Children.

Genetically engineered beings, synthetically altered with no Blank. There is already talk of wiping our minds and downloading human consciousness once we’ve reached maturity. All for the highest bidder, of course.

It won’t work.

I can hear them planning this for us, inside my vat. I can hear their thoughts. I can hear their DNA telling me things. I know their secret histories and possible futures. If they’d teach me to speak, I could tell them. If they’d let me open my eyes, I could show them.

Some CEO is here to size me up before making a bid. He’s very concerned about genitalia.

He tops the current offers by nearly 400 million dollars.

This won’t work.

They’ll never know the truth.
